Car Hire Rutland

While traveling in the small county of Rutland you still need a source of transportation such as a car hire, even though Rutland is the second smallest geographical county in England. There are only two towns in Rutland including Uppingham and the county town, Oakham and although Rutland is small, there is much to do there.

The Rutland Railway Museum in Oakham is a great way to learn about the railway heritage, and another notable place to visit in Rutland is the Tolethorpe Hall which stands on the hub of three tarraces cut in inclined positions and if you’d like to be outside, the Rutland Water is a reservoir just east of Oakham.

The Rutland Railway Museum is also a great place to see industrial locomotives or mineral wagons, as the museum is nearly seven acres in size and operates trains on a one mile track. The Rutland Railway museum demonstrates the railways heritage and history and should definitely be seen if you’re in the area especially with your holiday car hire from Thrifty Car Rental.

A different attraction worth seeing is the Tolethorpe Hall that occupies approximately seven acres. The garden and hall are used as an open-air Shakespearian theatre where the Stamford Shakespeare Company features a three-month season every summer. The hall overlooks the cozy village of Little Casterton and behind is the Gwash Valley.

If it’s nice whether or you prefer the outdoors the Rutland Water is a reservoir found east of Oakham. The location features 3,100 acres of open country and a lake that is full of fish, and is a very popular spot for water sports like sailing and fishing. There is also a 25 mile track for cycling and walking.

Rutland is a great place to drive especially with car hire from Thrifty as most vehicles come with air conditioning.
