Car Hire Exeter
Exeter is situated in the southwest part of England, also referred as the West Country. Exeter is a city with much to see, such as the ruins of Rougemont Castle, The Northcott Theatre, and Royal Albert Memorial Museum, and your Thrifty car hire will be able to get you there in comfort.
The City of Exeter was established on the east side of the River Exe on a ridge of land backed by a steep hill. It is at this point that the Exe, having just been joined by the River Creedy opens onto a wide flood plain and estuary.
Historically this was the lowest bridging point of the river Exe, and was tidal and navigable up to the city until the construction of weirs later in its history. This combined with the easily defensible higher ground of the ridge made the current location of the city a natural choice for settlement and trade. In George Oliver's The History of the City of Exeter, it is noted that the most likely reasons for the original settling of what would become modern Exeter was the "fertility of the surrounding countryside" and the area's "beautiful and commanding elevation [and] its rapid and navigable river
The ruins of Rougemont Castle were originally built by William the Conqueror to hold control of this area. At this current time, the castle is rumored to be up for sale, but unfortunately it is not open to the public to see inside, but many still take a trip using their car hire to be able see the beauty of it.
After seeing the ruins of Rougemont Castle, head to Northcott Theatre. Northcott Theatre is located on the campus of Streatham at the University of Exeter, and is widely known for its open air plays of Shakespeare. It is also one of the few Theatres that has its own repertory company.
After you have seen some of the fantastic plays put on by the theatre you can rely on your Thrifty car hire to get you to Royal Albert Memorial Museum. The Royal Albert Memorial Museum houses artifacts that are of national and international heritage. The best part is that you are able to see all of these artifacts for free.
