Prestige Car Hire Stevenage

Fancy a car hire that is not your normal car hire? With Thrifty prestige car hire, you can choose from a range of convertibles, 4-wheel-drives or other luxury car hires – so treat yourself today! And while you have your Thrifty prestige car hire, why not take a tour of Stevenage and feel like a star, for the day (or a week, or a month, or...).

Stevenage is lucky enough to have several stars in its midst, past and present. One such famous couple is author Ken Follet, and his politician wife Barbara. Ken Follet has written many historical and thriller novels, while Barbara is a prominent Labour official, and became his second wife in 1984.
Famous twins are Albert and Ebenezer Fox, poachers both, and known as the Twin Foxes. They have a pub named after them, The Twin Foxes Public House.

Another famous person, past, is Francis Charles Albert Cammaerts. Cammaerts was a brilliant Special Operations Executive, who organised the French resistance to sabotage German communications in the second world war. Given the code name Roger, he was stationed undercover in France and after the war resumed an unassuming career as a school teacher and principal. He was also a witness at the trial of Lady Chatterley. Lady Chatterley’s Lover was a book by author D.H, Lawrence.

It caused a stir when it was released due to the explicit language contained in the book, and under the Obscene Publications Act 1959, it was challenged in court to prove that the language contained was of literary merit. The book won out, and was found ‘not guilty’ in 1960. Take a drive down the pedestrianised town centre, the first purpose-built traffic-free shopping area in Britain – and do so in your Thrifty prestige car hire, making sure everyone sees and wonders... are you a star?
