Hiring Conditions

For all rentals within the UK, the standard insurance age range is 25 to 70. If you fall outside this age range please read the following:

Under 25

21-22 year olds may rent small vehicles, only if the renter:

• Has never been prosecuted for any endorsed traffic offence
• Has a minimum of 24 months driving experience (please refer carefully to your driving licence)
• Isn't a student. We cannot rent to full time students. This also applies to students even if they are in part time employment or undertaking a period of employment as part of their course.
• 23-24 year olds must have a minimum of 12 months driving experience.There are also restrictions on the size of vehicle you can rent.

Over 70 (71-75)

We should be able to rent you a vehicle subject to checking your medical condition with our insurer's terms and conditions. Please contact your Thrifty Renting location for more information.

76+

It is unlikely that we can rent any vehicle to you. However, if you have previously rented from Thrifty before reaching your 76th year, we may be able to help you as a re-renter, but we will need to refer this to our insurer. Please contact your Thrifty Renting location for more information, with details of your previous rental.
