Car Rental Stevenage
Stevenage holds an annual fair, Stevenage Day, so be sure to organise an outing with a few friends, hire a Thrifty car rental, and plan to spend the day there! Oh, and what’s more, it’s free – what more could you ask for? Stevenage Day boasts rides, stalls, competitions and games, with fun guaranteed for all members of the family.
Local charities and businesses, organisations, plus art and craft stalls feature, with people welcome to book a stall or simply browse. The event is held at the King George Playing Fields, known locally as the Cricket Ground. You can park your Thrifty Car Rental and use it to carry your goodies home from the fair!
The King George Playing Fields are a list of reserves in the United Kingdom, part of a huge memorial to King George, and each a charity in its own right. After the King’s death in 1936, a decision was made to commemorate the King with not only a statue (although there is one in London), but also something bigger.
The King George’s Fields Foundation was set up and after money was raised to buy some land, the field was passed onto the National Playing Fields Association (or NPFA) to manage. Land was still being acquired in the 1950s and 1960s, and there are now 471 fields, all owned by the NPFA and managed by either local councils or trustees. IN the 1960s the Foundation was dissolved and the NPFA took complete control, and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh is President of the association.
